Kristian Petersen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies at Old Dominion University. His first book is Interpreting Islam in China: Pilgrimage, Scripture, and Language in the Han Kitab (Oxford University Press in 2017). He is the editor of Muslims in the Movies: A Global Anthology (ILEX and Harvard University Press, 2021) and New Approaches to Islam in Film (Routledge, 2021). He is on the editorial board for the Introductions to Digital Humanities: Religion series with De Gruyter, and co-editor of the Digital Humanities and Research Methods in Religious Studies volume in the series. He has been serving as host of the New Books in Islamic Studies podcasts for a decade.
